Co-founder of Mental Health Research Facebook site

Author of multiple studies in the area of non-suicidal self-injury

My hope is to help counselors and other professionals who work with individuals who engage in non-suicidal self-injury understand the behavior, reasons for the behavior, and work with this population with less judgment and more heart. Additionally I hope to be able to express the individual, the unique stories, and the experiences of people who self-injure through my research.

For over a decade I have had the privilege of working with adolescents and young adults who self-injure, of hearing their stories and lived experiences. I have also researched self-injury in various populations, and worked as a consultant and trainer for professionals interested in learning more about self-injury. And have recently co-authored a new book for mental health professionals entitled 'Non-suicidal self-injury: Wellness perspectives'

Through my clinical and research experiences I have heard the pain and despair, along with the strength and resilience that individuals exhibit.
