Ken Cousins
Ecological Economist in Seattle, Washington
I believe that sustainability – broadly realized – is a necessity for healthy, just, and vibrant societies.
I have been active in the sustainability movement for over thirty years, and have worked with Earth Economics, the Forest Stewardship Council, Green Festival, Sustainable Cascadia, Sustainable Seattle, Eat Local Now! and Seattle Innovators, as well as Seattle-area SCALLOPS affiliates, Transition Network groups, and others.
My professional training includes a Ph.D. in Environmental Politics and an M.A. in Political Economy (with research in Ecological Economics) from the University of Maryland, a B.A. in Political Science and a GIS Certificate from the University of Washington, and a B.A. in Ecological Agriculture from The Evergreen State College. I served with Peace Corps Bolivia from 1993-95.
My work informs stakeholders and decision makers about the critical importance of healthy ecosystems for human well-being, community resilience, and economic vitality.
