Ken Wright

I am a Colorado-based writer, teacher, river runner, telemark skier, karateka, fisherman, hunter, father, husband, walker, philosopher, loafer, and backroads scholar. Although not necessarily in that order. My essays, features, and book reviews have appeared in a variety of national and regional newspapers and magazines, and I'm a regular contributor to the "La Vida Local" column in The Durango (Colorado) Telegraph. I also keep an erratic, eclectic blog about life in southwest Colorado and the Four Corners at sanjuanalmanac.com. I am the author of three books about parenting and living in the modern American West: "The Monkey Wrench Dad: Dispatches from the Backyard Frontline" (Raven's Eye Press, 2008), "Why I'm Against It All: Rants and Reflections" (Raven's Eye Press, 2003), and "A Wilder Life: Essays from Home" (Kivaki Press, 1995).
