Security has been my world for years, and I’ve built up a solid mix of skills to keep systems locked down and running smoothly. I have a strong background in programming, particularly in Perl, PHP, and Bash scripting, which I use to automate security tasks and build custom tools for data analysis.
I’ve spent plenty of time working with open-source IDS systems like Snort and Suricata, setting them up to detect and respond to security threats effectively. Web proxy technologies, such as Squid and Apache mod_proxy, are also in my wheelhouse—I use them to manage secure proxy servers and monitor web traffic.
My experience with Linux, UNIX, and macOS environments runs deep. Whether it’s configuring access controls, securing systems, or handling system-level security tasks, I’m comfortable diving into the command line to get things done. I’m also well-versed in log management solutions like ELK stack and Splunk, helping to sift through massive amounts of data to spot security incidents before they escalate.
When it comes to network security, tools like Nessus, Nmap, Zmap, and Wireshark are second nature to me. I rely on them to scan networks, analyse traffic, and ensure everything is running as securely as possible.
Over the years, I’ve worked with organisations in the pharmaceutical and financial sectors, providing security guidance, running vulnerability assessments, and collaborating with teams to improve security posture. I’ve designed and maintained web applications, managed Linux-based servers, and integrated complex systems while keeping stability, security, and performance at the forefront.
At the end of the day, I’m always looking to stay ahead of emerging threats and advancements in cybersecurity. Security isn’t just a job—it’s a mindset, and I bring that to everything I do.
