Kim was working in biology and public health outreach when she stumbled upon a job opening for NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory in 1998. Since she always wanted to be an astronaut when she was little, this opportunity got Kim close to the cosmos but without the hazards of a long distance commute. These days, when not answering the myriad of questions her two inquisitive kids have about the Universe, she enjoys traveling abroad for science outreach projects, experimenting with avenues in public humanities and even reading a few books.

For a list of Kim's recent publications, and a glimpse at her upcoming non-fiction book "Your Ticket to the Universe: A Guide to Exploring the Cosmos" (co-authored with Megan Watzke), head over to her web site.
