Kris Haddow is a Scottish playwright, performer and author of short stories in Scots and English.
Winner of the 2010 ‘see me’ Creative Writing Award, judged by author Lari Don and presented by Scots Makar Liz Lochhead, Kris later adapted the winning short story entry as a monologue for recital at an exhibition of spoken word held in Glasgow.
2h:9m:37s, a one-man comedy written and performed by Kris, was first staged at Greenock Arts Guild in 2011 as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival beforing touring Scotland in February 2012, visiting Glasgow, East Kilbride, Irvine, Arran and Sanquhar. Make Your Move, a short play written by Kris and co-starring actor Robert Softley, was staged on 22nd June 2011 at the National Theatre of Scotland's 5th anniversary Five Minute Theatre event, and was simultaneously broadcast live online.
Kris's recent appearances include Girl X with the National Theatre of Scotland, Romeo and Juliet with Scottish Ballet, the community opera On the Rim of the World with Scottish Opera at the Citizens Theatre, playing folk music and singing to accompany the Citz Community Company production Fair Friday, and a supporting artist in Series 1 & 2 of BBC Scotland's Garrow's Law.
A privately trained baritone, Kris occasionally sings at suppers and concerts throughout Scotland. When not writing or performing, he finds work as a life coach, trainer and graphic designer.
