Kathleen C. Vogel

Schertz, TX

My name is Kathleen Costello Vogel, but everyone calls me Katie. I was born in Chicago, IL. My parents moved a few times before we ended up in Colleyville, Texas, where I went to school with my 2 sisters, Carolyn and Kelly. In high school, I was a 'band nerd', and loved every minute of it!

I decided to go to Texas Tech University specifically so I could march with The Goin' Band From Raiderland, and that was the best decision I have ever made! I marched with the band for 4 years while at Tech. I had the opportunity to travel with the band for football games and had the best time of my life. My final year of marching, I met a boy named JR Vogel. We started dating in the fall of 2007, and he graduated from Tech in the spring of 2008 and started Grad School in San Antonio, but came back to Tech to see me every chance he had.

I graduated in May 2009 on the same day as my sister, Carolyn. She was engaged and was getting married at the end of May to a guy she also met while at Tech. JR drove up to Colleyville from San Antonio 2 days early and arrived at my parents house around 2am. He had planned the proposal with my family. Carolyn came into my room with a box and told me to 'open it RIGHT NOW!' then left the room. Inside the box was a digital picture frame with a note: "Plug me in now." I plugged the frame in and each picture was of JR and me, from the start of us dating to recently. The last slide read, "You have have surprise on the balcony." I opened my bedroom door to walk out and see candles and rose petals lighting the path to the balcony, and there he was in a suit, on one knee with hundreds of tea candles writing out 'Will you marry me?' Of course, I said yes!

We got married in September of 2010, and moved into our house in Schertz. We currently have 2 very spoiled Yorkies, Lucy and Roxy. We enjoy spending the summer at Lake LBJ, and hunting down in Brackettville during the winter. We go to as many San Antonio Spurs and Rampage games as we can, and love the SA Rodeo every February! We love to go to country music concerts, dancing, and enjoy an occasionally weekend a home, relaxing and watching movies!
