KYLE LESSMAN

I am a Minnesota born, graphic designer, journalist and photographer living in Sioux Falls. I am a fan of old Kodaks, new Nikons, the color green, live music, nicely spaced type, agriculture, black coffee and cold beer.

In 2009, I earned my bachelor's degree in agricultural journalism from SDSU. Through my classes there, as well as at a number of newspaper internships, I developed a love of print media. And, after working for a little over a year as a copy editor and page designer for a 16,000-circulation, daily newspaper in western Nebraska, I realized that I had become more interested in the design aspect of it all and made the decision to go back to school and enrolled in the Graphic Communications program at Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls.

Through my studies at Southeast Tech., I have discovered that I have a love for illustration and typography — as well as the story behind how different fonts came into fruition.

I have a true appreciation for the history of graphic design and past design processes, and strive to maintain the style of a bygone era while constantly evolving to take advantage the growing number of new media opportunities available today.
