After a series of jobs (including waiting tables, making coffee, selling bridesmaids dresses, reorganizing several offices, and working the cash registers at both Rasputin Music and Tower Records) I went back to college to learn something.

That something was biology. Over the next four years, I worked for Berkeley Lab and UCSF Medical Center. In retrospect, it seems I was in the laboratory every hour I could spare away from school. I graduated from San Francisco State University with an undergraduate degree in biology, and a serious passion for research.

Currently I work for Berkeley Lab again, but in a completely different role. I coordinate the undergraduate research internships at the Lab. It is very rewarding to give back to the same internship program that initially gave me my first opportunity to work as part of a research team.

I like music, art, coffee, my dogs, singing, hanging out with kids, and learning more about the science that changes how we view the world around us. I want to write about science, because it's awesome. But besides that, I am really passionate about explaining science to other people, so I'm using my blog as a way to practice.
