BY DAY...

Lara works as a health librarian with a focus on patient education. In the recent past she managed research & communications at the Nova Scotia Cochrane Resource Centre (NSCRC) in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She has an extensive background in project management, research synthesis, engaging with online communities, and writing. During the last two years she has coordinated research for and co-authored two Cochrane Collaboration systematic reviews/protocols. In 2011 she took over website management and communications for the NSCRC, tracking and reporting on site analytics, a growing listserv, and in 2012, overseeing the launch of an NSCRC YouTube channel to curate videos relevant to health researchers.

BY NIGHT...

Lara is Communications Director for Nocturne: Art at Night and formerly supported TEDxHalifax (2010 & 2011 events) as a communications specialist. Lara also serves on the Executive Committee of the Halifax Library Association (HLA). She has been writing and editing for PopMatters.com since 2006, and was Editorial Co-Chair of the Dalhousie Journal of Interdisciplinary Management (DJIM) during her MLIS graduate studies at Dalhousie University from 2008-2010. When she's not researching or volunteering, you can find her knitting or over on Ravelry, the social network for fiber enthusiasts.
