Lauren Hard

Lauren Hard is a recent graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism who is currently a news assistant at the New York Times. She recently wrapped up an internship with The TODAY Show and prior to that interned with msnbc's The Cycle.

Before interning at NBCUniversal, Lauren served as a digital producer at PIX11 News in New York City. She also ran around the five boroughs working to report stories for NY1 News as a News Assistant where she served as a videographer either alongside a reporter or independently depending on the story.

Lauren is trained in improv, having taken classes at The PIT (The People's Improv Theater) and has worked as a host and producer for Martini Productions NYC as well as a one-woman-band reporter for Hudson County TV.

Lauren wrote articles for News 12 New Jersey’s website as an Interactive Producer. She managed the station’s overall social media presence, including updates during breaking news. Lauren served as a primary producer for News 12 New Jersey’s Facebook fan page, which grew from 532 fans to 92,000 ‘likes’ during her tenure. Lauren worked with on-air talent to help them use social media most effectively in addition to other responsibilities.

Lauren has amassed several awards, including a 2014 scholarship from New York Women in Communications (NYWICI), as well as Awards for Outstanding Service in from NYWICI 2009, 2010, and 2011. Lauren earned her BA in broadcast journalism from Temple University. Lauren is conversational in Spanish and working towards complete fluency.
