Boxing Coach Strategist & Author in Cleveland, Ohio
At 14, Scott Neal laced up his gloves and stepped into the ring as a 106-pounder. By 17, he had back-to-back Golden Gloves titles — and then his career came crashing down, cut short by a life-threatening injury and the wrong environment.
But fighters fight. Scott carried his fire into martial arts, earning his Nikyu (second-degree brown belt) and winning gold at the 2001 national tournament.
Today, Scott Neal is one of Cleveland's sharpest boxing minds. A trainer and strategist who has worked with top MMA and boxing athletes through gyms like Strongstyle and Old Angle Boxing Gym, he joined the Old Angle coaching staff in 2014 and has built champions ever since — leading 2017 Cleveland Golden Gloves champion Cody Orahoske to a regional title and guiding 2025 champion Basil AbuUkkaz. Inducted into the Ohio Former Boxers Hall of Fame and named 2021 Coach of the Year, he also coached the Cleveland Golden Gloves national team in 2025–2026.
Outside the gym, Scott runs his own fight gear and apparel business, founded in 2010, and serves Cleveland's amateur boxers as a city volunteer boxing coach. He is the author of "The TRU Art of Boxing," available now on Amazon, with his next book, "The TRU Art of Living," coming soon.
