Leslie J. Flores is a NYC native, born and raised in Queens. She holds a B.A. in psychology and sociology from Boston University and is working on her M.S.Ed. in Teaching Urban Adolescents with Disabilities (Grades 7-12) from Long Island University - Brooklyn. She part of the NYC Teaching Fellows (NYCTF) program. Currently, Leslie works at Maspeth High School where she co-teaches chemistry and earth science as well as co-coaches fencing.

Prior to teaching, she was the Program Coordinator for the K-7 After School Day Care program at the Samuel Field Y. Leslie was also a Future Corps Leader for The Future Project, providing action-based coaching to high school students in Queens (South Jamaica and Cambria Heights), assisting with school or citywide special events, and providing youth mentorship.

In June 2015, Leslie completed a 10-month nonprofit apprenticeship and service term through Public Allies, an AmeriCorps program. She served as a Program Fellow at Cool Culture where she coordinated family events for underserved children at various NYC museums, managed the volunteer program, and facilitated parent workshops in Harlem/East Harlem for its new Adopt-A-Museum program. As an Ally, she also helped organize the 2015 MLK Youth Leadership Conference at Mott Hall Bridges Academy in Brooklyn.

As an alumni brother of Alpha Phi Omega (APO), National Co-ed Service Fraternity, Leslie volunteers as a staff member for Section 97 (Greater NYC area), primarily as the advisory chair of the chapter at St. John's University and the Section 97 Alumni Coordinator. In addition, she is one of the organizers for BOLD (Brothers of the Last Decade), a new initiative launched in 2015 to provide young APO alumni with opportunities for networking, professional development, and learning life skills.

Leslie is a strong supporter of youth development, service learning, and access to education. When possible, she attends non-profit or education-related professional development events so she can learn more and connect with people who share her passion for making a positive impact in the community.
