I’m Erica Firment. I was born in Flint, MI. I live in San Francisco, CA. I am a User Experience Designer, specializing in UX strategy and Information Architecture.

I have a Master’s in Information Science (UMich, '03), and a B.A. in English (MSU, '98).

My website Librarian Avengers started in 1997. In Internet time, that’s about 50 years ago.

I was a young English Major when I wrote an essay called Why you should fall to your knees and worship a librarian as a tribute to my mother. The positive response from the budding web community was one of the forces that propelled me into graduate school.

I blogged grad school, where I stole free food from SIG-CHI meetings, studied Human-computer Interaction, and joined the Community Information Corps. I wrote long papers, taught classes, did some web development, and worked as a researcher/indentured servant.

I've worked for a variety of universities, and helped redesign the software for virtual world Second Life. I've helped create a streaming music service, and am now the Lead IA for realtor.com.

I'm currently enjoying life in San Francisco with my husband and young daughter, and only avenge librarians on alternate weekends.
