Liza Mordkovich is a Social Worker, Art Therapist, Psychotherapist who specializes working with children, adolescents, adults and families. Ms. Mordkovich is the cofounder of Mindful Therapy, a group practice as well as a staff therapist at Mindful Therapy and in private practice. Ms Mordkovich graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor degree in psychology and art from Tufts University and Master’s Degree in art therapy and counseling from Long Island University. Also, she completed a second Master’s Degree in Social Work.
Ms Mordkovich is trained in art therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and dialectic behavioral therapy across the lifespan. Specifically, she focuses on applying those therapeutic modalities towards the treatment of addiction, anxiety disorders, depression, stress management, immigration related issues, childhood disorders, family and relationship problems, and adjustment disorder. She has experience working in inpatient psychiatry, outpatient clinic with chemically addicted mentally ill individuals, HIV services, and children with behavioral and sensory problems.
In addition to her educational and professional achievements, Ms. Mordkovich has also engaged in academic pursuits and sought to expand her working knowledge. In order to accomplish this, she has conducted research in the fields of art therapy, treatment of anxiety disorders, addiction and disorders in childhood. She is most interested in examining the efficacy of evidence based treatment in combination with art therapy and mindfulness.
