Lloyd Burgess

Entrepreneur, IT consultant, and Foodie in Auckland, New Zealand

I was born in Auckland, New Zealand, lived in Bath, UK for many years, then Italy (Lake Como & Lucca) and now back to Auckland. I moved to Tindalls Bay, Whangaparaoa in 2023 and love it.

Professionally, I worked for many years in the Telecoms industry and have a very broad and deep experience of BSS/OSS architecture & design, agile development and corporate IT governance. My experience was gained within companies such as HP, Orange, BT, WorldCom, Vodafone & Virgin Media.

As a self confessed 'coffee geek' I founded TheCoffeeRoasters.co.uk which provided speciality coffee both online and though a personalised subscription service.

Food has always been a passion and in 1999 I won the BBC Masterchef competition - the first kiwi to do so.

Cycling has been a great love and one of my many little projects was the restoration of my 1960's Legnano road bike, that I raced as a teenager. In October 2024 I am hoping to ride the L'Eroica vintage cycling event in Gaiole in Chianti, Tuscany. Old blokes, old bikes and gravel roads!

Nowadays I enjoy being close to the beach, and pottering with little IT projects and Crypto-currencies.
