Lloyd Edwards

I started playing instruments at the age of 6, when I learnt to play the piano and violin. Through playing the violin I joined a music club and played in a small orchestra for children.

However, I really became interested in guitar at 14, when my Dad gave me his old Les Paul copy guitar. For the first year I dabbled in a few chords and it wasn't until my best friends started playing guitar that I took it seriously. By the age of 16 I was doing cover gigs around Swansea and started writing my own material.

During this time I have discovered a massive interest in folk artists such as Bob Dylan, James Taylor and Nick Drake and old blues artists such as Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson and B.B. King. Through these interests I have learnt many folk and blues songs and have started playing regular paid gigs in venues around Swansea. This has given me a wider understanding of the difficulties in getting original compositions known to a wider audience, but also discovering the satisfaction when people take notice and enjoy your work.

"Lloyd first played at Caffe Americano during Americano Live & Unsigned. His exceptional guitar skills combined with amazing vocals covering classic hits from the folk rock era subdued the audience and left Lloyd being invited back to fill another slot. As the audiences increased, so did Lloyds' profile which lead to Lloyd being offered his own weekly slot at Caffe Americano. In November 2011 Caffe Americano was short listed for 'Business of the Year 2011' in a competition in which Dragon Debra Meadon would Ambassador. We presented a presentation to panel of Judges serving cocktails, tapas & oozing them with our greatest talent – 'Lloyd Edwards Live' – we went on to win the competition. Caffe Americano proudly supports Swansea's sensational Singer / Songwriter / Guitarist Lloyd Edwards, we will host a star studded launch to his debut album, and will continue to provide Lloyd with opportunities and support as his profile increases." - Matt, co-owner of the Americano Jazz caffe.
