Bob Jones

London, United Kingdom.

Bob Jones - or (when feeling more formal) Dr. Robert Wynn Jones - has lived in London practically all his adult life. A few years ago, his fascination with London history, and his enjoyment of treading its city streets, became a fully fledged passion to research and identify all the surviving structures that date from before the Great Fire of London in 1666. This in turn led to the publication of Bob's book on the subject by Amberley Publishing in 2012 - 'The Lost City of London' (page about it on our website here, and Amazon listing here)

Following the launch of his book, and the opportunity of taking early retirement from a long and successful career as a professional palaeontologist, Bob took things a step further, designing a series of Guided Walks on the Lost City of London theme and becoming an independent Tour Guide, specialising in conducting these walks for small groups. (He also continues to contribute to the field of palaeontology through his Associateship at the Natural History Museum)

Along the way, Bob has also discovered the joys of blogging, and now (with the 'behind the scenes' technical assistance of his wife Heather) his Lost City of London website lostcityoflondon.co.uk (click here) - includes a frequently updated Blog, featuring Bob's own photographs, plus articles and other bloggy goodness on a wide-range of aspects of London's history (see blog feed links below).

Bob's most recent book - published in late 2013 - was another palaeontology text book (if you search for Robert Wynn Jones on Amazon you can find a substantial list of his previous publications on 'non-history' subjects such as Foraminifera).

But, for the most part, his heart now beats to another drum.
