A financial services professional with more than 25 years of experience, Louis Gregory Rice currently serves as a portfolio manager at Kellner Capital, LLC. He manages the long/short equity portion of the multi-strategy Kellner Catalyst Fund, LP, and serves as Portfolio Manager for the Kellner Long/Short Fund, a registered Act 40 alternative mutual fund. Responsible for researching equities across industries ranging from shipping to broadcasting, Louis Gregory Rice assesses investment portfolio candidates based upon specific primary research on the supply chain and customer as well as interaction with current and former management. Investments typically incorporate improving inflecting fundamentals, attractive valuation and supportive technical profile or special situations in which corporate change is likely to lead to enhanced returns for shareholders.

Prior to joining Kellner, Louis Rice served as a senior investment analyst and member of the general partner of the Syosset, New York-based long/short equity hedge fund Knott Partners. In his capacity as a senior investment analyst, he helped the firm identify global investment opportunities in industries such as aerospace, specialty chemicals, and building products, as well as its holdings in distressed offshore feeder funds. His previous experience also includes a tenure as chief operating officer of alternative asset management firm Mezzacappa Management LLC. Mr. Rice began his career as an associate for Lazard Frères & Co. LLC, ultimately rising during his 18 years with the firm to the position of managing director.

Outside of his work in financial management and investments, Louis Rice contributes to several charities. He supports the Robin Hood Foundation and has previously served as chairman of the Annual Fund of the Christ Church Day School in New York City.
