Shari Lovenheim

A mental health professional balancing a wide range of duties, Shari Lovenheim is School Psychologist at Anthony Wayne Middle School in Wayne, New Jersey. Lovenheim brings nearly 15 years of experience working in educational settings to her present role, serving students enrolled in grades six through eight. A member of the New Jersey Association of School Psychologists and National Association of School Psychologists, Shari Lovenheim is also affiliated with the American Psychological Association's Educational Psychology and School Psychology divisions.

Completing a B.S. in Psychology in 1998 from City University of New York's Brooklyn College, Lovenheim earned an M.S.Ed. in School Psychology in 2005 from Queens College at the City University of New York. During graduate studies, she completed an externship at Shelter Rock Elementary School in Manhasset, New York, counseling at-risk students in the third grade, carrying out classroom observations, and establishing a behavioral contract.

Launching her career in 1998 as Student Teacher at Special Sprouts Preschool in Brooklyn, New York, Lovenheim went on to gain teaching certification from New York State. In 1999, she began instructing mathematics for the New York City Department of Education's Intermediate School 303 in Brooklyn. She taught math at Brooklyn's Intermediate School 96 from 2003 to 2004 before accepting a position in 2005 as School Psychologist at Brooklyn's Public School 276 and Intermediate School 68. Lovenheim began working at Anthony Wayne Middle School in 2006.

Lovenheim counsels individuals and groups of students in her current position. In addition to attending child study team gatherings and supporting staff crisis intervention trainings, she completes gifted and talented student diagnostic screenings. Eager to connect with the families of the students she serves, Lovenheim participates in community outreach efforts at meetings of the school's Special Parents' Association.
