I am a Technology Assistant for EdTech Leaders Online (ETLO), EDC's online professional development program to support the integration of technology in educational organizations. My work with ETLO includes providing support to participants and future facilitators in running ETLO workshops, updating current online courses, and contributing to the design of new courses to add to the ETLO catalogue. Prior to joining EDC, I taught 4th grade for three years in Fairfax County, VA before moving to Boston to pursue a Master's Degree in Technology in Education from Harvard. After graduating, I returned to the elementary classroom to teach 5th grade in Wellesley, MA where I focused on using technology to enhance the curriculum.
I worked at EDC in MA for a year while my husband was teaching in Boston. After having a baby, we could no longer keep up with the cost, pace, and commute associated with living in a Boston suburb so we moved to Georgia to be close to some family and to get a better quality of life. Fortunately, I was able to keep my job with ETLO and work from home. In September of 2006, we had our second child, and now I work for ETLO on a more casual basis, facilitating and doing work as I am needed which is usually around 30 hours a week.
My work schedule tends to revolve around the kids schedules. I try to do most of my work while they are at school and I sneak online to check email and the forums whenever I can which thanks to mobile devices makes it pretty easy!
Outside of work I like to run and bike. I have been competing in triathlons for a few years so I am still trying to enjoy the swimming part as well. Any remaining free time goes to playing with an supporting my kids in their own endeavors and spending time with my hard working husband. Life is great!
