Ludmila Smirnova, Ph. D. is Professor of Education at Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh, N.Y., where for the past 12 years she has taught courses in Curricular Planning, Methods of Teaching and Teaching with Technology. She has become increasingly recognized for her leadership in the application of emerging Internet technologies to instruction. Ludmila leads numerous workshops on the application of Smart Technologies and Web 2.0 tools in college and primary/secondary classrooms. Prior to this, she was professor of education at Volgograd State Pedagogical University (Russia), where she also served as Dean of the School of Foreign Languages training teachers of English, German and French. She was teaching English in school and University settings and also in the Center of Intensive Language learning. During her 25-year career there, Ludmila was known for her reintroduction of Montessori education in southern Russia and the design of innovative themed “charter” schools. Her prolific publications include books, chapters, papers and conference presentations world-wide. She is a partner, co-designer and co-facilitator of the Moodle for Teachers workshops at IT4ALL Integrating Technologies for Long Life Learning.
She is married to a wornderful man, Michael Edelstein. He is also an educator. He teaches environmental studies at Ramapo Collefe of NJ. Together with Mike they have 3 sons. Ludmilla's both sons are Web designers and Web developers. Boris Smirnov is a Drupal specialist in the U.S. Ruslan is an interior designer, in Russia. Mike's son Joel is a film maker, designer, and an inventor.
