I study college students. I have a passion for helping all partners in the educational experience (faculty, staff, advisors) to understand how to create the best learning environments for students.

At the University of Michigan, I serve as Managing Director for Educational and Assessment Services for the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching, and teach in the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education. The topics I pursue continue to grow, with an eye toward whatever next year's teaching and learning issue might be. Ever changing and challenging work.

In my previous work in Student Life, I studied issues such as the Millennial and Global Generations, educational outcomes, political involvement, leadership and civic educational experiences, gender differences, social networking. What we learn about lifewide education informs the present and future of higher education.

In volunteer life, I work with Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity at the local and national levels. In these environments, I'm passionate about student-to-student learning, as well as meaningful cross-generational mentorship. Both are essential in making the university environment, and society, the most effective and engaging they can be.

I speak at conferences and campuses about peer education, values-based strategic planning, goal setting and achievement, risk management, and graduate school aspirations. Applying a values-based perspective across student lives is exciting and positive work.

Away from work, I love college bands, running, and cheering for Wichita State, Colorado, and Michigan.
