Marc Tennant

Winthrop Profesor Marc Tennant is the Director (and founder) of the International Research Collaborative - Oral Health and Equity (http://ircohe.net) and the Centre for Rural and Remote Oral Health, (CRROH). He is based at The University of Western Australia in Perth, Western Australia and is driven by a passion for equity and justice.

Marc is in the top dozen Australian dental academics for impact with about 150 publications and $15-20million in R&D funding over the last 15 years. And was the driving force behind the initial development of the disciple of rural, remote and Indigenous oral health research in Australia. Most recently Marc has lead the development of the IRC. It is focused on improving dental research and dental pubic health leadership across the globe, its collaborators stretch from the Middle East through the sub-continent to Asia and out into the Pacific. This world-class collaborative drives a research and development agenda aligned with WHO goals for health service improvement.

Marc has also served in many executive leadership roles in Dental Schools. Intertwining a love of computing with an innovative streak Marc has undertaken lead roles in the start-up of all Australia’s newest Dental Schools, all of which are regionally-based and continues his lifelong efforts towards reducing social disadvantage.
