Marcel Vernooij

As Director Public Sector Engagement at IDH The Sustainable Trade Initiative, I support dialogue and cooperation with governments, in support of IDH’s programs in support of better jobs, better income and better environment.

Previously, I worked the Permanent Representation of the Kingdom of The Netherlands in Geneva, as head of the unit responsible for trade/economic affairs, labor, and development, responsible for relations with WTO, ITC, UNCTAD, ILO, UNECE, WIPO and WEF.

I have been working for the ministries of Foreign Affairs/Development Cooperation, Economic Affairs and Agriculture. I have a graduation in biology from Leiden University, with a specialization in environmental sciences and development cooperation.
