The bigger story:

I am a communications expert who knows how to conceive and write with brevity and precision on a host of topics from business to sports and from fashion to technology, the latter for which I am especially passionate. Some of the top brands in publishing have relied upon my expertise to address their audience’s needs.

Most recently as the senior editor at JET Magazine I wrote, assigned and edited lifestyle, sports and beauty/fashion stories while also assisting with story ideation for news, politics and entertainment.

I was a multimedia content producer focusing on technology at Black Enterprise Magazine. In this capacity, my goal was to educate marginalized groups about how to use social media; digital integration; gadgets, apps and software for business and professional development. In addition, I championed the success of minority tech start-ups and heralded the abundant career opportunities in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).

In 2012, I received two Salute to Excellence Awards from the National Association of Black Journalists and was recognized by Blacks in Technology (BiT) as one of the Top 10 Black achievers in the tech arena for 2011 at SXSW in Austin, Texas. I've spoken about technology on panels for New York Social Media Week 2011, at The 2012 Rainbow/PUSH Wall Street Summit, and at the 2012 and 2013 BE Entrepreneurs Conference. In 2011, SocialWayne.com chose me as one of 28 People of Color Impacting the Social Web, and through crowdsourcing I was listed as one of BlackWeb2.0's/HP's 50 Most Notable African American Tastemakers in Social Media and Technology for 2010. I've conceived and produced five cover stories on Tech and/or STEM and countless articles, videos, and slideshows online, including “Tech Startup of the Week” where I celebrated the accomplishments of more than 25 innovative entrepreneurs.

While a general reporter at Black Enterprise I contributed to numerous articles both online and in print on personal finance, career development and entrepreneurship. I also attended and reported on the Democratic and Republican National Conventions in 2008, where I interviewed Valerie Jarrett, senior advisor and assistant to President Barack Obama and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.

Previously, as the technical editor at Prepared Foods Magazine I wrote about food ingredients, including those used in food fortification and enrichment.
