Mariah Gillespie holds a masters degree in Journalism & Communications from the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia) and a bachelors of music from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She kicked off her career in Sydney, Australia, where she spent 2 years as Social Media Manager for a web design agency. There, she built the social media department from scratch and grew it to become one of the company's core areas of expertise.

Mariah Gillespie has spoken at numerous events, including the ATC Social Media Conference, where she led an unconference session on search and social, and the HR Summit 2011 (Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane), where she was a main conference speaker on the topic of understanding, maximizing and leveraging social media in recruitment and employer branding. Mariah has also spoken at the Social Media Summit in Sydney as well as the RCSA (Recruitment and Consulting Services Association) international conference in Port Douglas. Throughout 2011, she hosted a series of hands-on workshops on social media across major cities throughout Australia. In 2012, she continued to host social media workshops and also spoke at a social media in government event in Melbourne.

Mariah Gillespie has helped some of the largest recruitment agencies in Australia utilize social media platforms in the recruitment space (Chandler Macleod, Adecco, Drake) and has also helped brands such as Crown Casino to develop their social media strategy. In addition, she has worked with musicians, artists, fashion designers, retailers and other SMEs around the world.

Mariah lives in Coronado, California and is now a full time piano teacher. She teaches exclusively in-home lessons throughout Coronado, La Jolla, and Carmel Valley. She is currently accepting new students via referrals only.
