Markus Wilhelm

A senior executive with more than 30 years of experience, Markus Wilhelm established Strata Solar in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 2009. Today, Strata Solar is one of the leading solar developers and construction firms nationwide, with an investment portfolio totaling over $1 billion and a collective output of more than a 0.5 gigawatt across six states. For his professional accomplishments, Markus Wilhelm has been recognized by Governor Pat McCrory, Rep. William Brisson and Senator Brent Jackson as a driving force in North Carolina’s solar industry. In addition to his work as a Strata Solar, Markus serves on the advisory board of the UNC School of Public Health and the UNC Water Institute, and the advisory board of the Solar Center at NC State University.Mr. Wilhelm holds a Business Diploma from the University of Passau in Germany. A committed member of the community, he engages in philanthropic outreach as an advisory board member and sponsor for United Solar Initiative, a nonprofit focused on developing renewable energy facilities in South America and other developing countries.
