Martin Yau
Aspiring Analyst and Investor in Hampshire, UK
I'm an investor with extensive experience managing investment portfolios across equities, startups, and cryptoassets for over 20 years. My immediate goal is to transition from my current role to equity analyst.
I first became interested in the financial markets during the uncertainty surrounding the 2003 Gulf War while studying Economics and Business at college. I began investing in the stock market after leaving college.
I developed the investment knowledge, analytical and research skills while managing portfolios and conducting due diligence on investment opportunities. I made investment decisions based on my own research, gained experience in performance measurement/benchmarking, financial analysis, due diligence, and risk assessment and achieved realised and paper returns from portfolio.
After graduating in Maths with Economics, I started networking with banking and finance professionals and built further connections through investment societies, alumni and banking and finance professional networking groups. I carried out research in the industry, together with the finding out my personality and skills sets led to my ideal analytical role within investment management.
I have completed professional qualifications and courses within investment management, and actively attend conferences, seminars and workshops related to industry to continuously sharpen my knowledge.
Through personal observations and reading various sources of credible information, there is insufficient progress made to mitigate and reverse climate change. More investment needed to tackle climate change.
My personal life mission is to invest in early stage and mature businesses that make real efforts collectively to adapting to and aggressively mitigate climate change through various means to achieve sustainability; technological, circular economy, renewable energy sources and cleaning up the environment.
Believe that I am a suitable person to play a part in tackling climate change as an equity analyst.
