Marvin Derrick

Since 2011, Dr. Marvin Derrick has performed a number of surgeries for the heart and lungs in his role as the director of cardiothoracic surgical services at Illinois' Decatur Memorial Hospital, a top-ranked cardiac facility in the United States. In addition, Dr. Marvin Derrick sees patients with spider and varicose veins, and he employs minimally-invasive options to address these conditions. A Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, he has practiced medicine for more than 25 years.

In addition to his decades of experience, Dr. Marvin Derrick relies on his considerable formal schooling. He earned his doctor of medicine from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he gained entrance into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for his efforts. He then undertook a four-year residency in general surgery at the University of California, Davis, followed by an additional two years of training in thoracic surgery at the University of California, San Diego. When not treating patients, he enjoys cycling, golfing, traveling, swimming, and skiing.
