Mary is passionate about improving access to evidence-based primary care for underserved populations. By combining primary care with public health practice, she aims to provide care that takes into account factors external to the individual which influence health. She is interested in the development of novel health care delivery models to improve primary care, and subsequently public health.

She has experience in settings ranging from a Syrian refugee camp clinic in Greece to transitional housing for homeless adults living with HIV in inner city Baltimore. After nursing school, she served as a United States Peace Corps Volunteer in Uganda. Mary was recently an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF, where she taught in the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program and coordinated the HIV Minor.
