Mary Morales

I should tell you a little bit about me… my love for fitness, eating, cooking and finally arriving at Paleo Eat Street. My name is Mary and I am from Los Angeles, California. I maintain an extremely active lifestyle. During the week you can catch me at my local CrossFit gym, swimming, hiking around LA, working out with my girls, catching my favorite yoga class all the while cooking, cooking!! I have a sincere passion for staying fit and eating clean.

I am originally from Nicaragua so I grew up eating a diverse range of ethnic foods. I have been cooking for as long as I can remember as a matter of fact I remember cooking complete meals for my entire family at a young age. As I grew older I continued cooking, learning about flavors, different cooking techniques and so on. My inspiration and flavor profiles come from those dishes and of course my ethnic background. In pursuit of my nutritional endeavors I eventually started to cook healthier and healthier, arriving at dishes that were Paleo without even knowing about the diet/lifestyle.

When I first heard of Paleo I was so against it, I even threw a fit telling my partner; "we already eat healthy we do NOT need to diet." Nevertheless in 2012 my boyfriend’s CrossFit gym participated in a Paleo challenge. Before I knew it I was all about Paleo! "I can't have that, it's NOT Paleo!" Once the challenge ended I decided that Paleo would not be a diet, for me it would be a lifetime commitment. While I am not 100% Paleo now nor am I the little Paleo Nazi that I use to be, I've finally found a balance to Paleo that I enjoy.

My creations, and Paleo inspired dishes come from several places: traditional recipes, restaurants and the fact that I LOVE TO EAT. Which means I have endless notches under my belt, when it comes to dinning out.

My reasons for Paleo Eat Street are genuinely to help people and to share my recipes. I want to be able to answer any question a reader might have, from "hey that recipe did not come out right" to "Mary, do you know what to do with Parsnips?" Simply put, I am here to help you!
