I am an Irish artist living in Trinidad and Tobago and my aim is to explore the world around me through drawing and painting. From 2005 I studied art by distance learning with the Open College of the Arts in the UK, graduating in 2011 with a BA (Hons) Painting. Art college opened me up to a variety of new approaches, both formal and conceptual. In my painting I'm interested in colour and space and the formal language of art. My subject is the natural world, especially flowers and plants and the mysteries that become apparent when observing and painting them. My current work is about the idea of a barrier between life forms, a communication barrier -- or as John Berger called it, an abyss. It's very preliminary and exploratory at present and also very exciting.
