Creating, maintaining, and deploying software is a complex process, but it doesn't have to be difficult. Motivated by this philosophy, I've been able to make great contributions at a number of different companies from startups to Fortune 500 corporations. In the right environment, I feel I could provide great value, either as a senior developer or as a team leader.

I like to consider myself a full-stack developer, although my specialty lies somewhere between "middleware" and "dev-ops." Most of my experience revolves around writing and consuming web services in the .NET ecosystem, but I'm also fairly comfortable doing the same things in Java. If you're looking for a web designer, I'm probably the wrong guy, but I know enough about JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and user interaction to be dangerous. I strive to make my work both easy to maintain and robust with respect to change.

Like many others, I strongly believe that software development is a team effort. I think the best teams are made up of people who hold themselves to a high standard while maintaining a culture of humility, respect, and trust. Having a sense of humor goes a long way, too. In the words of an old friend, "I want to work with people I wouldn't mind having a beer with."

While I've got your attention, feel free to take a look at some of my work on GitHub (https://github.com/mattgawarecki). I use it mainly as a space to store various experiments and stockpile old knowledge, but some of it's worth checking out, I suppose. You may not find a lot there, though, because I place a high value on work-life balance. Even though writing software is usually fun for me, I have plenty of other hobbies and obligations that keep me busy in my daily life.

From a technical standpoint, I enjoy working on most types of problems, but compiling reports and working with old technology stacks are a couple of things that turn me off. On the flip side, subjects like machine learning, data mining, and continuous integration really grab my interest.

If you've made it this far, I appreciate you taking the time to get to know me. If you'd like to chat about something -- an opportunity that I may be interested in, any questions you might have -- please don't hesitate to contact me via any of the listed means. While I can't guarantee my complete availability, I do try to respond to everyone in a timely manner.
