Matthew Combs Newport

A Newport, Rhode Island, resident and spring 2013 college graduate, Matthew Combs earned his bachelor of arts in biology with honors from Hamilton College. While there, he completed two independent study courses and authored a thesis he later presented at a national conference. Beyond his classroom experience, Matthew Combs developed professional skills through a Harvard forest internship and through an invasive plants internship with the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory. In the latter role, his responsibilities included conducting research related to the management of local invasive species. Furthermore, the graduate currently displays his commitment to environmental research through participation in the Narragansett Bay Coyote Study.

When not engaged in scholarly pursuits, Matthew Combs enjoys outdoor activities like backpacking and hiking, both of which allow him to appreciate nature’s rich biodiversity. He also stays active by playing sports like ultimate Frisbee and golf.

Since completing his undergraduate studies, the Hamilton College alumnus has worked in the restaurant industry for a Newport establishment. There, his duties involve preparing and serving quality meals made from healthy ingredients.
