Matthew Hirschey

I am a scientist and assistant professor at Duke University. While I was originally trained in microbiology-based inorganic semiconductor research, I now study mitochondria, the part of the cell responsible for maintaining energy balance, and I study diseases, such as diabetes and obesity, which occur when energy balance is disrupted.
