Once upon a time, I was a graphic designer, text-book illustrator, web designer, real estate investor, sign shop owner, cell tower construction manager, graphic designer (again), web designer (again), web developer, software developer and finally settling back as a web developer. I just needed to make sure I liked what I do.
Shortly after Netscape Navigator became a free download browser in 1994, my curiosity of building web pages began and has been growing ever since.
In 2000, I sat down with three computer language books. One on PHP, another on ASP and the other, Coldfusion. I knew that one of these would lead my path into my computing future. Because of the freedom that open source software provides and it's similar coding style to JavaScript which I began learning with the release of Netscape, I chose PHP.
PHP turned out to be a rewarding choice as in recent years two open-sourced, PHP-based software: WordPress and Magento both share top usage rankings in Content Management Systems and e-commerce software.
