Mazie Brewington

Mazie Brewington of Suisun City, California, commands extensive business and operations management experience. Much of her career has been spent serving as a Chief Business Official of California Community College System schools. At present, Ms. Brewington works as Vice President of Administrative and Business Services for the Merced Community College District (MCCD) in Northern California. Mazie Brewington's daily responsibilities with this 20,000-student collegiate system include overseeing operations such as payroll, purchasing, and budgeting, as well as representing the district at the state level.

Since joining MCCD in 2009, Mazie Brewington has accomplished significant goals in growing and improving the school system. Some of her achievements include managing two construction bond programs totaling $115 million, implementing a campus-wide Americans with Disabilities Act infrastructure improvement initiative, and securing more than $20 million in state funding for near-future building and remodeling projects. Furthermore, Mazie Brewington reorganized MCCD's Business and Administrative Services Department to better collaborate with local police, contracted several energy conservation projects to address thermal and electrical usage, and established a district emergency preparedness response team to train in national school safety programs.

Mazie Brewington served in the United States Army for the first half of her career; upon leaving the military, she held the rank of Sergeant Major and received the Legion of Merit, the highest peacetime honor available. In 1999, she accepted her first job as a collegiate administrator with Laney College in Oakland, California, where she worked as a Business and Administrative Services Manager. Ms. Brewington also served as Controller for the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District and Vice President of Administrative and Business Services for the Solano Community College District. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with a focus on Management from Missouri's Columbia College and a Master of Business Administration from Troy State University (now Troy University) in Alabama.
