Melissa Schwarzschild
Throughout her career as a dermatologist, Melissa Schwarzschild, MD, has demonstrated confidence and achievement in her abilities among both her peers and her patients. Dr. Schwarzschild began practicing dermatology as a resident at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Medical Center; today, she is a dermatologist with Richmond Dermatology & Laser Specialists in Richmond, Virginia. In addition to diagnosing and treating her patients, Dr. Melissa Schwarzschild actively participates in the professional dermatology community and enjoys her role as an advocate for preventative skin care and cancer screening. Dr. Melissa Schwarzschild currently treats patients with a variety of skin disorders, and her particular areas of interest are in laser and dermatological surgery, skin cancer surgery, and cosmetic dermatology. Along with her partners at Richmond Dermatology Specialists, she diagnoses and treat a number of skin-related disorders, such as severe acne, eczema, and psoriasis. She also provides cosmetic treatment for several age-related skin conditions. Aside from caring for patients, Dr. Melissa Schwarzschild contributes to several newspapers, magazines, and health journals. She acted as a Contributing Editor for Belle Magazine, a women’s publication for the greater Richmond area. Today, she regularly offers advice through The Health Journal, a magazine serving the regions of Richmond and Hampton Roads. Dr. Melissa Schwarzschild completed her medical training at VCU, where she earned her MD in 2002. She excelled in her class and earned a place in Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. From 2005 to 2006, during her final year of residency at VCU Medical Center, she acted as Chief Resident of dermatology. Dr. Melissa Schwarzschild has presented at several major medical conferences, including the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Meeting’s Gross & Microscopic Symposium. She is a member of the AAD, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Medical Association.
