Melody Dworak

Power in Community. Power in Purpose.

Melody Dworak is a writer, editor, MLIS candidate at the University of Iowa, and a 2011-12 HASTAC Scholar (Humanities, Arts, Sciences, and Technology Advanced Collaboratory). Her areas of focus involve building knowledge through digital means, which includes online architectures such as archives, institutional or self-publishing systems, and database interfaces. Her involvement as a HASTAC Scholar has led her to more deeply explore digital humanities and literacy, which she has found very rewarding.

Prior to her graduate coursework, she worked to coordinate editorial projects for a woman-owned small business focused on K-12 education policy and invested her spare time as an editor for a local small-press publication. She firmly believes the role communities play enriches life experiences.

Keywords: digital archives, electronic publishing, Open Access publishing, digital media & literacy, databases, and digital humanities.
