Meredith Woo

Dr. Meredith Woo has served as the dean of the University of Virginia’s College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences since the spring of 2008. The school’s complex structure necessitates the management of 700 faculty members and more than 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students. During her time in this position, Dr. Meredith Woo has increased annual fundraising from $20 million to more than $62 million. She has also helped the school develop a long-term financial plan based on analytical research. She previously functioned as an associate dean with the University of Michigan, a position she accepted after serving the school for five years as a Korea Foundation Professor of Political Science.

Dr. Meredith Woo is a graduate of Bowdoin College. She graduated magna cum laude from the School of International Affairs before earning a master’s degree at Columbia University. She continued with Columbia throughout her doctoral studies, which were focused on political science, and graduated from the program with distinction.
