Michael Ash Sharbaugh
Musician, Student, and Bartender in Atlanta, Georgia
MichaelDavid [Ash] Sharbaugh is a musician, poet, linguist, and anthropologist. Originally hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he now resides in a small village just outside Atlanta, Georgia.
Michael composes variations of pop, spacerock, ambient, and experimental musics – trip-hop, vaportrap, and IDM.
He was co-producer and co-host of the online radio broadcast series Blue Sky Highway, host and creator of Michael Ash Sharbaugh Showcase, and host and producer of The Broken Doorway and The Spoken Doorway online radio shows (formerly featured on the IndieMediaWeekly.com network).
His ‘formal’ education consists of an undergraduate Magna Cum Laude degree in Applied Linguistics and Classical Languages and a graduate Summa Cum Laude degree in Sociocultural Anthropology, for which he scribed the thesis, Negotiations for 'Spooky' Spaces during the Halloween Season: Christian Trunk or Treats in the 'Bible Belt' South, among other works.
Michael's main passion is music, which can be heard on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, SoundCloud, Pandora, Amazon, et cetera.
His secondary passion is philology ("etymology"), for he is a fanatical lover of words, their origins, and semantic fields.
Formally, he studied Classical Latin, Ancient Greek, Spanish, and French; informally – on his own, he ‘flitted around’ with Old English, Sanskrit, Hebrew, Arabic, Japanese, Amharic, and Ge'ez.
He is currently eyeing a doctorate in English Literature and Composition.
