Michael has more than 15 years experience in the security design of large scale networks and the services that run on these networks. He has had the opportunity to spend several years travelling and consulting for companies in different industries including several of the largest telecommunications providers assisting them in the detection of abnormal activity using behavioural analysis and event correlation.

Michael currently works for TD Bank and leads the security architecture team. Our goal is to ensure that security is properly designed into the services provided and that the final implementation will provide the necessary security for all transactions from start to finish. Previous roles at TD included managing the security engineering and deployment team, leading the creation of an updated security strategy, and working closely with auditors to assist them in navigating the network during the audit process and managing the design and implementation of solutions to resolve any findings.

Prior to joining TD Bank, Michael worked for a Waterloo start-up where he built and managed a team that provided security consulting, training, and incident response for international tier 1 telecom providers. The team specialized in using behavioural analytics, profiling, forensics and event correlation. He has also consulted for a variety of industries including financial, legal, insurance, manufacturing, and mineral mining.

When away from work, Michael enjoys spending time with his friends and family, learning about the latest technology to secure and attack systems, and improving his knowledge in micro-expressions, and statement analysis.
