Michael Legamaro

For more than 20 years, attorney Michael Legamaro has cultivated his expertise in the field of tax and estate planning law, serving the needs of clients in the United States and abroad. In his current role as a Partner at DLA Piper LLP in Chicago, Illinois, Michael Legamaro brings to his work an intimate understanding of financial management for corporations and individuals of high net worth, providing assistance in such areas as tax and estate planning, as well as mergers and acquisitions. As Co-Chair of the Global Private Client Group and Chair of the Chicago Tax Practice Department at DLA Piper, Michael Legamaro brings an impeccable professional history to the company, with a number of accomplishments in his field. As a testament to his professionalism, Mr. Legamaro holds an AV® Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, along with membership in the International Tax Specialist Group, the Executive Committee of the Transnational Taxation Network, and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, for which he chairs the Chicago Branch. Previously, Mr. Legamaro worked for international law firms such as Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, Barack Ferrazzano Kirschbaum & Nagelberg LLP, and Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP. He also spent three years in the Judge Advocate General's Corps for the U.S. Army.

Admitted to the Illinois State Bar in 1986, Michael Legamaro earned his J.D. from the Northwestern University School of Law, where he served as Executive Editor of the Journal of Criminal Law & Criminology. A summa cum laude graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, Mr. Legamaro holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science.
