Michael Martinsen

Law enforcement specialist and former police chief Michael Martinsen spent more than 20 years serving residents of Ohio. From 1990 to 2006, he worked in supervisory roles in the Hamilton Police Department, including as Patrol Commander and Tactical Response Team Commander. Michael Martinsen accepted the department’s Leadership and Community Service Excellence Award in 2001.

Martinsen served as Chief of Police and Director of Campus Safety at Ohio University from 2006 to 2008, during which time he implemented hostage negotiations, sexual assault units, and a swat team. He began working as Chief of Police for Wright State University in 2008. Two years later, he earned a promotion to Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs. He was nominated for the school's President's Excellence in Service Award in 2010 and again in 2011.

Martinsen holds an A.A. in Liberal Arts from Miami University, a B.S. in Public Safety Administration from Ohio University, and an M.A. in Strategic Communications from Seton Hall University. He also attended the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety’s School of Police Staff and Command. In his free time, Michael Martinsen enjoys traveling and running.
