Michael Sananman

Dr. Michael Sananman has established an award-winning record as a practicing neurologist. A recipient of the AMA Physicians Recognition Award, the New Jersey resident has enjoyed a career that spans more than 40 years. During his extensive professional life, Dr. Michael Sananman has attended to patients in private practice, held several academic posts, and served as a medical consultant and independent examiner. He remains affiliated with Medicolegal & Expert Witness Services and often supplies expert testimony.

A scientist as well as physician, Dr. Michael Sananman conducted several research projects during the 1970s and 1980s. The subject matter of his work ranged from the treatment of Parkinson’s disease to the use of EEG with coma patients. These studies and others have appeared in esteemed medical journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine, Archives of Ophthalmology, and Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, among others.

Early in his career, Dr. Michael Sananman served in active duty for two years as Chief of Neurology and EEG Lab at the Chelsea Naval Hospital located in Boston. In the years prior, he finished a three-year neurology residency at the Neurological Institute of New York at Columbia University. Earlier, Dr. Sananman relocated to Northern California to complete a medical residency and internship at the University of California at San Francisco. He earned a Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University.

Away from his medical responsibilities, Dr. Michael Sananman enjoys a diverse range of activities. Since 2008, he has held the position of referral agent for the Westfield, New Jersey, company Weichert Realty. In addition, he maintains ongoing ties to Columbia University and donates to its alumni organization. Dr. Sananman also spends his leisure time in woodworking, playing tennis, and listening to chamber music.
