I’ve been in the journalism game since the 90’s: I founded my first publication, The Tabor Times (an impressively clever name, combining the name of my fourth grade teacher, Ms. Tabor, with a common newspaper title), when I was nine. Around that same time, I put together a binder titled, “How to a Journalist,” which included a detailed lists with things like “Attend Harvard Journalism School” and “Visit lots of countries.” I’ve been working professionally in journalism since I was 15. My work has been published in The Sun-Sentinel, The Los Angeles Times, Broke Girl’s Guide, Her Campus, College Magazine, Thought Catalog, and Seventeen.com. I was a Web Intern for Seventeen magazine in the Summer of 2011, where I was SEO trained by Hearst Digital Media. Currently, I am the Health Editor for Her Campus, the #1 online magazine for college women.
I am an interviewing machine: I once interviewed Daniel Radcliffe and he’s really, really famous. Like, super famous. Talking to celebrities (even Harry Potter) doesn’t turn me into a nervous fan girl. I have experience conducting speed-interviews on the red carpet, as well as more in depth interviews.
Social media is my playground: In addition to being Her Campus’s Health Editor, I also run their Twitter and Facebook. I live-tweet the television shows Pretty Little Liars and Glee for Seventeen magazine, using Hootsuite. I have live-tweeted numerous events for Seventeen, including a CoverGirl launch party. I am knowledgeable about how to use social media to raise reader engagement, site traffic and brand awareness.
I love the camera: I am minoring in Broadcast Journalism and, although I don’t want to be on the television, I am comfortable making (and editing) video tutorials for online publications.
I have a broad range of interests: I ain’t no one trick pony! In the summer of 2009, I interned for former Congressman Ron Klein and, in the summer of 2010, I interned at Presidential Women’s Clinic. During my time at Seventeen, I focused mostly on Fashion and Beauty content; and I work exclusively with Health (mental, physical, and sexual) for Her Campus. I am comfortable writing about a myriad of different topics.
