I have over 22 years of experience treating people suffering from mental health and substance abuse issues in outpatient and inpatient settings. The administration of behavioral healthcare organizations and medical facilities has also been a substantial part of my career experience. It's also been my privilege to counsel couples and families dealing with issues ranging from relationship concerns to addiction and severe mental illness. I began in working in mental healthcare in 1992 at a group home for individuals with developmental disabilities and have worked in social work, healthcare and hospital administration, psychology, and counseling ever since. In addition to most recently being engaged in private practice, I have expanded and updated my training through my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the American School of Professional Psychology, an APA-accredited doctoral program in Arlington, VA. My training included rotations in forensic psychology and community mental health. I have also coauthored an article (with Dr. L. Riso) on the treatment of chronic depression which has been published by the American Psychological Association.
