Martha Nowlan

Solar Advisor and Solar in Waterbury, Vermont

I am an outgoing, compassionate, self-starting young professional. While my educational background is in environmental policy, I am passionate about many social justice issues. Since I was a kid, I've always been an eager problem-solver, set on conquering the world's biggest and smallest of problems. I thrive on building new relationships, learning new things, and exploring new places.

I am a graduate of SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. I graduated magna cum laude with a BS in Environmental Studies with a concentration in policy, planning, and law.

I am currently employed at SunCommon, a clean energy company in Vermont. We make it easy and affordable for Vermonters to go solar!

I was previously the Deputy Director of Our Task, a nonprofit based in Arlington, VA. Our Task works to inspire, empower, and mobilize young adults around global environmental issues.

One of my major accomplishments at Our Task was organizing the 3rd Annual Earth 2100 Conference.

My intellectual interests include environmental policy, conservation biology, ethics (bioethics in particular), law, social justice, reproductive justice, food sustainability, and public health.

I have traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Zambia, and Ecuador. I believe that travel is essential to develop an understanding of global issues.
