Christian Lainez is a production sound mixer and boom operator with varied interests in film, music, and technology. Born and raised in South Los Angeles, Christian became obsessed with films at an early age spending what free time he had watching and dissecting movies and music. After high school, he earned a degree as an Associate of Science in the Recording Arts at the Los Angeles Recording School in 2013. Between 2015 and 2025, Christian has participated in educational effforts at prestigious institutions like the AFI Conservatory, the Latino Film Institute's Youth Cinema Project, and the Windward School. In 2022, Christian joined IATSE Local 695 and carries Y-8 classification as a boom operator with pride. In 2024, he was nominated at the 51st Daytime Emmy Awards in the category of Outstanding Sound Mixing and Sound Editing for Temple of Film: 100 Years of the Egyptian Theater from MakeMake Entertainment and Netflix. An avid film enthusiast, former LA historian, and technological enthusiast, he is guaranteed to exhaust any ear with film trivia. His favorite films include George Cukor's The Philadelphia Story, John Carpenter's Halloween, and Wes Craven's Scream. Today, he lives in Los Angeles and spends free time working on sound design and post production for sound or at Amoeba Music.
